Two outstanding Zen Masters of modern Japan,
Daiun Sogaku Harada (1870-1961) and Hakuun Ryoko Yasutani (1885-1973)
established a new school of Zen Buddhism that combines the strongest
features of both the Soto and Rinzai sects. This integral school
of Zen has been brought to the United States, Canada, Mexico,
South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand by Philip Kapleau
(Rochester Zen Center) and Robert Aitken (Diamond Sangha, Hawaii),
two outstanding American students of Harada Roshi and Yasutani
Roshi. Danan Henry Roshi, the Spiritual Director of the Zen Center
of Denver, is a Dharma or spiritual heir of Philip Kapleau Roshi
and has completed 10 years of Zen training with Robert Aitken
Roshi, to become a sanctioned Diamond Sangha Dharma Teacher. The
Zen Center of Denver is an affiliate of the Diamond Sangha, a
worldwide network of Zen Centers in the Harada-Yasutani lineage
under the direction of Robert Aitken Roshi.
