Temple Renovation

Business Plan (PDF) | Architectural Plan (PDF)

The central vision of the Zen Center of Denver is to provide authentic Zen training for lay people and to safeguard the tradition by producing qualified teachers.

To begin to realize this vision, the Center re-located in 1998 to a large, highly visible religious structure in historic Northwest Denver. Since the move, the Center's visibility has increased exponentially. The Center is regularly mentioned in Denver media and hundreds of people have attended our introductory Zen seminars and public zazen.

Although the Center's new location has proved ideal, the building itself needs major renovation if we're to realize our central vision. The Center's vision incorporates three areas of focus:

  • Formal Zen training at our Lotus in the Flame Temple
  • The School of Zen Arts and Studies
  • A Thousand Hands Unlimited community outreach programs

Vision

To turn our vision into reality, the Zen Center of Denver will raise money for and begin a renovation project to transform our temple into a Zen Buddhist lay training center. Please see our Business Plan for specific details.

The Zen Center has completed the first phase of its renovation project, the architectural design phase. The Center's architects, SlaterPaull, have created the preliminary schematic designs, along with project time phases and cost estimates. See our Architectural Plan for drawings and specific details.

Please Help the Teachings Thrive

One should give even a single coin or a single blade of grass of resources - it causes roots of goodness in this age and others to sprout.
